RDJ’s Hair Styles in the movie by ~Hallpen
Thanks to ROFL Razzi and their clever pictures I’m going to wrap up what I thought of last nights Academy Awards…
This year they were hosted by Billy Crystal yet again. I was excited that Eddie Murphy had originally signed on cause I was hoping (like Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes) that this would bring the Oscars some edge. Alas that didn’t happen, so the Academy people played it super safe hiring Billy Crystal, who played it safe himself by performing the same song and dance routines coupled with him putting himself into film scenes. Now granted it wasn’t has painful to watch compared to last years hosting duties by James Franco and Anne Hathaway (both whom I adore) but I don’t think Crystal’s humor is as relevant anymore and is lost on the young generation asking, “Who is Billy Crystal?”
On the red carpet Ryan Seacrest totally got punked by Sascha Baron Cohen as The Dictator and what can I say about that, it was rude, funny, and he totally had it coming.

The Muppet’s won for best song (they had a 50/50 chance).

Meryl Streep wins again and this time for the Iron Lady (which is on my to watch list). I mean when those fellow actresses hear they’re nominated and then they announce Meryl’s name don’t you think they all sigh and say, “Oh great she’ll win it”. I’m honestly happy for her and her acceptance speech was great pointing out that half of America is saying, “Oh great she won again.” To which Streep replies, “Whatever”…exactly.
The biggest laugh of the night didn’t go to Billy Crystal but to Chris Rock for explaining how easy voice over work in animation really is. His presentation made me wish he was hosting again this year.

The Scorsese drinking game is still in full force.

Octavia Spencer took home the golden man for her performance in The Help and she deserved it 100% and it couldn’t have happened to a more gracious lady. Mazel to her upcoming breast lift.

Will Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis played with cymbals.

The Artist (on my TWL) was one of the big winners and the entire cast, crew and even Uggie seemed elated. Jean Dujardin is extremely charming and has that je ne sais quoi old school Hollywood thing working for him.

And that wraps up the Oscars, was it boring (yes), was it long (yes) but overall everyone dressed lovely, the dialogue was safe, and I’m happy for everyone that won or lost…either way. In the words of Meryl Streep “Whatever.”
